Modern web development offers more superpowers than ever before, and yet it still feels like building websites from scratch isn’t much simpler than it was five years ago. Setup takes hours or days; junior developers get bogged down with frameworks before they’ve had a chance to actually build anything; projects have so much overhead that people needing small sites are forced into using clunky no-code solutions. In this talk, Mateo will introduce a visual, open-source, component-driven IDE called primo. primo abstracts away the pains of modern web tooling while combining its best parts (including Tailwind, on-page editing, Reusable Components, Cloud Development, and Static Site Generation), so that developers can focus their attention on the important things like SEO, accessibility, and making the logo bigger. He'll demonstrate how simple and delightful primo makes it to develop editable, lightning-fast websites, and by the end of the talk, you’ll be ready to use primo yourself to build high-quality custom sites in days instead of weeks.

Mateo is a Venezuelan-American frontend developer, educator, and the creator of Primo - a component-driven IDE. He started his career as a freelancer before spending a few years at NewCity (https://www.insidenewcity.com/) developing large websites for major universities, and lately, he's poured himself into making the web a more accessible and open place.
