Driving to New Jersey from Manhattan is always an adventure. It starts with getting to the Holland Tunnel which is no easy task in itself, but once you make it through the tunnel, you are faced with one of the most heavily trafficked areas in all of New Jersey. This is where things start to get tricky because this stretch of highway seems to be undergoing constant construction and lane closures for miles on end.

There are lots of traffic lights and plenty of opportunities for accidents given that drivers have very little room to maneuver between lanes. However the trip is beautiful when the weather is nice. I have always loved this stretch of highway because it's so green and so pretty.

When you are driving in New York, you might not notice how green the suburbs are because everything has a concrete jungle feel to it, but once you cross into New Jersey, there are lots of grassy fields and trees everywhere. There are also lots of farms which look like they could be in the Midwest except for the fact that there are no corn fields anywhere. The bridges that you see across the river are the gateway to New Jersey and many people who live in New York head straight to them when they want to go home because it's so much faster than driving all the way around.

There is nothing I love more than driving along this stretch of highway when there is no traffic to be seen.
