Today, we honor a newly canonized saint — Saint Ignazio Choukrallah Maloyan, whose courageous martyrdom during the Armenian Genocide was officially recognized by the Catholic Church on October 19, 2025, in St. Peter’s Square by Pope Leo XIV.

A bishop, shepherd, and defender of the faith, Maloyan refused to renounce Christ — even under brutal torture — choosing eternal truth over temporal safety. His canonization stands not only as a recognition of personal sanctity, but also as a powerful witness to the suffering and faith of the Armenian Catholic people.

🌟 Born in 1869 in Mardin (present-day Turkey).
⛪ Became an Armenian Catholic archbishop, serving his people amid persecution.
🙏 Deeply devoted to the Eucharist, the Rosary, and pastoral ministry.
⚖️ Arrested in 1915 with hundreds of Christians during the Armenian Genocide.
💔 Endured beatings and interrogations for refusing to convert to Islam.
✝️ Martyred on June 11, 1915 — forgiving his executioners before his death.
🕊️ Canonized on October 19, 2025 — one of seven saints recognized that day.
