In this series, Jesus at the Table, we explore the powerful moments in the Gospels where Jesus met people around tables. These tables reveal the heart of God—grace for outsiders, devotion that moves heaven, and encounters that transform lives.

In Part 2 we come to a remarkable scene.

A woman walks into a room full of religious leaders carrying an alabaster jar of expensive perfume. Without concern for the opinions in the room, she breaks the jar and pours it out on Jesus.

What others called waste, Jesus called beautiful.

Her act of worship teaches us something powerful: real devotion is not cautious or calculated. It is a response to the overwhelming grace and love we have received in Christ.

But this story also confronts us with an important question.

Many believers once had this kind of devotion—passionate in worship, eager to serve, generous in giving, bold in sharing their faith. Yet over time discouragement, busyness, and offence can cause us to hold back.

The jar is still in our hands, but we stop breaking it.

Today’s Dawn message is a call to return to our first love and rediscover extravagant devotion.

Because a life poured out for Christ is never wasted.
