For most plants a good general fertiliser is suitable - look for an NPK ratio of about 17:4:16 - that’s 17% nitrogen (N), 4-5% phosphorous (P) and 16% potassium (K).
Plants with big, green leaves will appreciate a fertiliser with a high nitrogen level.
Liquid fertilisers need to be applied more often, so mean a bit more time, money and effort on your part. However, they do give plants a quick boost.
Beware of using fish emulsion indoors, as this can be quite smelly.
Slow-release fertilisers don’t give the instant effect of liquid feeds but they last longer and are a bit easier to use.
Choose a method that suits you - your plants will appreciate any option.
