Eight new cheetahs from Botswana | DD India

During her state visit, President Droupadi Murmu will formally accept the cheetahs from President Mokgweetsi Masisi on November 14, 2025. Botswana was chosen for its strong cheetah population, crucial for enhancing the genetic diversity of India’s reintroduced cheetahs. The transfer follows months of coordinated fieldwork by Indian and Botswana wildlife experts, veterinarians, and conservationists who worked across Botswana’s savannas to safely capture the animals. This collaboration symbolizes not only ecological restoration but also a growing partnership between the two nations in protecting endangered species and advancing global conservation goals.
