quick and tasty Instant Puliyogare (Tamarind Rice) recipe using ready-made Puliyogare masala — perfect for when you want authentic South Indian flavor in minutes 🍛👇
🧂Ingredients:
Cooked rice – 2 cups (preferably cooled rice or leftover rice)
Puliyogare masala – 2 to 3 tbsp
Oil – 2 tbsp (preferably sesame oil or groundnut oil)
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Dry red chili – 1 or 2
Curry leaves – 8–10
Peanuts – 2 tbsp
Tamarind paste (optional) – 1 tsp (for extra tang)
Salt – as needed (check masala salt before adding)
Coriander leaves
🔥 Instructions:
1. Prepare the base:
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
2. Add tempering items:
Add urad dal, chana dal, peanuts, dry red chili, and curry leaves. Fry until golden brown.
3. Add the masala:
Reduce the flame to low and add Puliyogare masala powder. Sauté for 10–15 seconds (don’t burn it).
4. Mix the rice:
Add cooked rice and a little salt if needed. Mix gently until the rice is evenly coated with the masala.
5. Adjust flavor (optional):
Add 1 tsp tamarind paste if you want more tanginess, and mix well.
6. Serve hot:
Enjoy with papad, curd, or plain fryums for a complete meal.
