Описание:
Mario Bros is a 1983 arcade game by Nintendo, developed by Intelligent Systems. It is a spin-off of Donkey Kong (1981) and prequel to the Super Mario Bros series. It is the first game dedicated to Mario, without the presence of Donkey Kong or his son, and introduces Mario's brother, Luigi.
The arcade game was available as an upright unit or as a cocktail table.
MARIO BROS GAME FUNCTION:
The object is to navigate through levels (called phases) and to flip over turtles and other creatures.
The goal is to eliminate all baddies and progress to the next phase. Coins are collected for extra points, these coins and the harmonic sound they emit when collected later became a staple in the Super Mario Bros series.
Unlike Donkey Kong (or DK Jr) there is no rescue objective, Mario's girlfriend Pauline is not present in this game, and like Donkey Kong, Mario Bros does not take place within the Mushroom Kingdom, but in the underground of NYC. In the 1983 Donkey Kong cartoon (which ran for two seasons) Mario had a Bronx accent.

ABOUT NINTENDO:
Nintendo, based in Kyoto Japan, was founded in the 1880s by Fusajiro Yamauchi as a playing card company.
Nintendo produced their first arcade machines in the 1970s, almost a century after the company's beginnings. They released their first home game console (Color TV-Game) in 1977 as five separate dedicated game machines, Nintendo sold 6 million of these 1970s units, making it the highest selling first generation game console.
Nintendo revolutionized the handheld market in 1989 with the release of Gameboy. The company previously produced Game & Watch titles in the early 1980s which were single and dual screen pocket-sized LCD games, some of which starred Donkey Kong, Mario and his brother Luigi. Game & Watch also introduced the D-Pad control configuration which revolutionized game controllers and has since become the industry standard.
Nintendo are one of only a handful of publishers to survive the videogame crash of 1983-1985, and debuted their new console(s) in Japan and in America at the end of this crisis.
Nintendo demand 100% creative control over their intellectual property, a major factor in preventing partnerships with Sony and Philips to jointly produce a home console unit.
As of 2025 Nintendo has shipped nearly 900,000 console units and 6 billion individual games.
