Do you have this urge to find out what's inside everything you touch? Did you take apart your dad's radio as a kid, but are too scared to do it to modern electronics? The Synthstrom Deluge is an all-in-one, battery-powered sequencer, synthesizer and sampler. And an all-around awesome little box. But what's inside?
CORRECTION: The screws in the knobs and the top of the cheeks are 1.5mm HEX, not TORX. Because of the way geometry works, a TORX bit will fit into a HEX screw correctly, but not the other way around. apparently this voids my disclaimer that "you should have the right tools and know what you are doing" completely.
Anyway, here's what's inside the Deluge:
Renesas R7S721020VC ARM Cortex A9 32bit 400Mhz 3MB RAM
Cirrus Logic CS4270 ADC/DAC 24bit/216kHz with 2 in 2 out channels
Alliance AS4C32M16SM-7TCN 512M 32bit SDRAM (64MB)
Microchip PIC24FJ256 16bit 32Mhz Micro-Controller
146 RGB LED, 28 single color LED, 4 7-segment LED
174 Membrane Switches
...and a bunch of other stuff that makes the Deluge blink, bleep and bloop the way it does.
To prove that no Deluge was harmed during the filming of this video, the entire soundtrack was composed, performed and recorded on my Deluge after it was successfully put back together.
