CBSE has told the Delhi High Court in clear words — "Do not politicize education." But after this statement in the OSM (On-Screen Marking) system case, a bigger question is being asked across the country: Is this debate really about politics, or is it about the future of lakhs of Class 12 students?

In this detailed video, Rahul from The Rooster News breaks down the entire matter that has reached the Delhi High Court. NSUI (National Students' Union of India) filed a PIL alleging large-scale technical failures and irregularities in CBSE’s On-Screen Marking system. Students, parents and teachers have been complaining for weeks about blurred answer sheets, missing pages, incomplete uploads, mismatched answer books and many students receiving far fewer marks than expected.

CBSE’s counsel argued in court that the petition is politically motivated because NSUI is the student wing of Congress, there is no immediate urgency, and the PIL is not maintainable. The board strongly opposed any politicization of education. On the other side, NSUI’s lawyer reminded the court that they are a 55-year-old organization raising voice for minor students and pointed out that a similar petition by ABVP was heard earlier.
The Delhi High Court did not accept CBSE’s objection. It issued notices to both CBSE and the Central Government and listed the matter for hearing on June 12.

Key demands in the petition:

Compensatory marks for students whose answer sheets were blurred, missing or wrongly evaluated
Independent inquiry into the OSM system failures
Manual rechecking and physical verification of answer sheets
Extension of the verification and revaluation portal by one more month

Shockingly, within a short time after results, 1,27,146 applications were filed related to 387,399 scanned answer sheets. Class 12 marks decide university admissions, scholarships and professional courses — any mistake here directly affects students’ futures.

While the petition comes from a political student organization, the technical complaints from thousands of students cannot be brushed aside. The court has decided to examine the matter on merit.
