Welcome back to the series! Now that we have perfected our animation library in Blender using the NLA Editor, it is time to bring the scorpion to life inside Unity.
This video assumes a foundational understanding of C#.NET and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. We will be looking at how to translate our Blender actions into a functional character controller.
🛠️ Implementation Highlights:
Animator Controller Setup: We import our FBX model and organize the NLA strips into a Unity Animator Controller. We’ll be setting up transitions between the Walk, and the 'Turn Right' actions using Boolean and Trrigger parameters.
C# Scripting for Movement: We dive into the code to handle user input. By utilizing a modular script architecture, we trigger the specific animation states we built in the previous episodes.
Logic: We map the alternating tripod walk cycle to vertical input.
Turning: We implement the 'Turn Right' animation specifically when the scorpion hits a wall, ensuring the root motion or script-based rotation aligns with the leg work.
OOP Principles: We treat the Scorpion as a prefab and use a prefab instance in order to ensure other instances have the same behaviour later on.
The objective remains to bridge the gap between high-quality 3D modeling/animation and a fully interactive game environment.
