Open for the noon newscast on Belo's flagship (now TEGNA-owned) ABC affiliate serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, recorded on Friday, April 1, 2005.
Graphics were done by Hothaus Creative and debuted in 2004, along with the "Evolution" news theme from Stephen Arnold Music (one of my favorite packages, which unfortunately only lasted two and a half years in Dallas due to the SESAC rate increases of 2006, which was resolved shortly thereafter but many SAM clients had defected to other vendors by that point, with WFAA switching to 615 Music and not returning to locally-based Stephen Arnold since).
Howard Parker was the voiceover artist for the news opens (and some news promos), but not the main station voice (which was, and still is, Doc Morgan). WFAA has used a separate, deeper news open voice since the late 80s including John B. Wells, Parker (who was later dropped to focus mainly on higher-profile movie trailer work), Dick Ervasti (now deceased), and currently David Kaye.
Set seen here was on its way out and would be replaced with a new set a few months later, and that set would last 17 years before being replaced with a mostly new set in 2022. I don't think it was ever intended they'd keep that set that long but in 2007, most (and eventually nearly all) newscast presentation was moved to the Victory Park development to coincide with their HD conversion, so the Young Street studios became their backup studio and thus it didn't make financial sense to replace a set that wasn't used too often. In late 2021, current owner TEGNA declined to renew the lease for Victory Park, and the late-2005 era set at their main studios was finally torn out and replaced with their current set, some of which was moved from Victory Park.
Anchors seen here are Alexa Conomos and Debbie Denmon, neither are with the station today.
