What is WordPress? Why Wordpress?

somewhere else online or through one of my previous posts, and be wondering what all the fuss is about?

I realise I've mentioned it a few times and you're probably due an explanation, and it will certainly make future posts easier, as WordPress is likely to come up A LOT! This week I will explain what WordPress is, how its different from traditional websites, show you some examples and explain WHY you should really care. How does WordPress make a difference to your life and business and why its worth getting on board, no technical details.

The most important point is that we are talking about WordPress.org NOT WordPress.com - I will explain the difference, but .com is mostly a blogging platform, not suitable for independent business websites.

The key take away from the presentation in this video, is that using WordPress to drive your website puts you in the driving seat as a sole trader or small business owner. If you have to rely on a web designer to make all the small changes to your website, not only will it be expensive, but it will stop you from getting involved with with the most powerful resource you business could have. With WordPress the control is back in your hands, and instead of wasting time and money on small changes, you can speed through changes and think in a strategic, creative way about how your website can help build your business. You can test things out, take them back off, see what works, because there is no techy in the way. Now don't get me wrong, its worth having some technical that you can rely on when you need to, but you would be surprised at how rare that really is!
