I'm sure you've all heard about non surgical brow lifts. These are a really common request
here at Contour Clinics.

A non surgical elevation of the brow gives a really feminine, natural, anti ageing look to the face.

Now there are multiple different things we target when we're thinking about consultations for non surgical brow lifts.

When I'm doing a consultation for the purposes of raising the eyebrow, I think of it from three different angles:

1. Muscular activity - we all have a muscle around our eye called the orbicularis ocular muscle. It wraps all the way around the eye and part of that muscle acts to pull down. OK, so as you're closing your eye, this pulls down.

Now all muscles in the body have what they call a tonic contraction.

So all of muscles are kind of semi contracted or or kind of squeezing at any one time and in a way that we can't really tell.

Now what the goal of a non surgical brow lift targeting the muscular layer is, is to relax that muscle, so it doesn't pull down as much.

So then this muscle here will pull slightly up and that is how we achieve a non surgical brow lift.

2. The other area is as we get older we can lose volume through the brow here, so the brow bone tends to recede backwards. Some of the soft tissues around here will shrink with age and that can lead to a drooped appearance of the eyebrow.

So volumising those areas in very specific ways that are individualised to your own specific concerns are ways that we can help to subtly lift the brow.

Then that may be volume in the temple, volume in the forehead or volume in the brow itself.

3. The last part is skin laxity, loss of collagen, loss of elastin. A we get older, we lose about 1% of collagen every year from the age of 20 to 25 onwards. And then we become less resistant to
heaviness of the face and to age related changes of the face.

So doing things like energy based devices to cause a collagen stimulation and a
contraction can help to subtly raise the brow.

So looking at those three different layers - skin, the volumisation layer and then looking
at the muscle - is how we can achieve a non surgical brow lift.
