Today we visited Lahore Sabzi Mandi Kashthkar Bazaar where around 65 to 70 vehicles of onions arrived in the market. Due to the increase in supply before Eid, the onion price (Pyaz Rate) is going down.
Even though petrol prices are high, farmers increased the supply so that citizens can easily buy vegetables before Eid. Because of this high supply, onion prices have dropped in the market.
While citizens are happy with lower prices, farmers, traders, and wholesalers are facing heavy financial losses. Many farmers say the government should provide relief to growers, traders, and mandi workers.
