Aerospace Engineering challenge - flying 'Round the Pole'

Описание: Our first year Aerospace Engineering students were tasked with constructing a model aircraft, with the aim of flying as slowly as possible.

The card and balsa wood aircraft were entered into a competition with around 150 students and 50 planes participating over two days.

Slow flying aircraft are vital for operating in remote areas or small city-centre airports. This competition introduced our students to the required aerodynamic, structural and performance concepts in a hands-on and entertaining way.

The model aircraft also provide a glimpse into the future of electric aircraft for the University of Bristol's Aerospace Engineering students.
