Commercial breaks taken from a rebroadcast of the "Veronica Recuerda A Selena" on Univision O&O KWEX in San Antonio, Texas.

KWEX is noted for being the nation's first television station to broadcast primarily in Spanish (it would, however, carry the occasional religious or timebuy program in English back when those types of shows weren't being produced in Spanish, through the 1990s). KWEX and sister station KMEX in Los Angeles became the two pillar stations in the Spanish International Network before newer, larger stations in New York City, Miami, and to an extent, Houston, all took on greater prominence within the Univision network. Still, KWEX owns San Antonio's Spanish-language audience to this day, and Telemundo has never come close to it in the ratings.

Also, due to the presence of channel 41 as the "fourth" station in San Antonio, despite broadcasting in Spanish, KWEX would be a reason (but not the only one) why San Antonio would not get an independent station in English until 1985.
