The Sukhoi Design Bureau has informed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited that India already possesses nearly half the infrastructure required to manufacture the fifth-generation Sukhoi-57 fighter aircraft domestically, significantly strengthening the case for a potential Make in India production line.
According to sources familiar with the development, Sukhoi, among other Russian defence entities, had sent a detailed technical report to HAL around two months ago following an assessment of India's aerospace manufacturing ecosystem. The report highlighted that a substantial portion of the heavy industrial, fabrication, and integration infrastructure needed for Su-57 production already exists within HAL's current facilities.
