Two Firefighters Injured Fighting the Gold Fire near Big Bear

LOCATION: 1 Mile N of Baldwin Lake
AREA/CITY: Holcomb Valley
DETAILS:

CRITICAL UPDATE: TWO FIRE FIGHTERS INJURED: Two Fire fighters have reportedly been injured while fighting the GOLD Fire near big bear. 1ST Fire fighter injury was reported as a heat related illness, Fire fighter was treated by ALS medics and transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. SECOND Firefighter injury is unknown, however incident commander has requested an immediate air rescue ship to the incident to have the fire fighter rescued by helicopter. The nature of the Injuries are known at this time. We are awaiting additional information.

Multiple air resources arrived to find one acre burning. Two additional tankers and 2 additional type 1 helicopters have been requested per radio traffic. There is a full aircraft response with multiple engines and crews on scene and on their way, no structures are threatened at this time.

The fire is officially at 80 acres, and is moving on to the ridge to the north with no present structure threats per air attack.
The Forest is the lead agency with assistance from CalFire-CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit. Currently, on-scene units are working to get hoselay tied in while air resources are attacking from above.

Currently on scene there are 10 Engines, 2 Crews, 2 Water Tenders, and multiple Aircraft, No heavy equipment is being used at this time due to terrain and more resources are ordered and on their way
