In today’s video, we are building NIMO — a cute desktop companion robot that reacts to you using vision, touch, and sound… and it even has a special Valentine mode. 🤖❤️

Powered by the RDK-X5 AI Development Board, NIMO can:

👀 Track you with real-time vision using the OV5647 MIPI camera
👆 React to touch (tap, rub, long press)
🔊 Detect loud sounds like table smash
💤 Automatically go to sleep when no one is around
⏱ Start a focus timer
🕒 Show date and time
💘 Activate a special Valentine’s Day eye color mode

This project uses the official RDK-X5 MIPI camera pipeline with the FCOS detection model to track the “person” class and convert it into eye movement logic (LEFT / RIGHT / CENTER).

All animations are rendered on a Waveshare 2" SPI TFT display using a custom frame-based animation system built specifically for RDK-X5.
