The hybrid IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) system adds an additional 23 horsepower and 78 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is an economical CVT unit. The IMA system helps the gasoline engine whereas other hybrids on the market can run on EV power alone, the Civic Hybrid cannot.
