In memory of my Princess Abby
(10/15/2006 - 03/04/2026)
💜😇🐱✨️
She passed in my arms on Wednesday morning. I knew it was coming just by seeing how much more difficult it was for her to walk recently. Cats are like people. She needed to hear me tell her that she could go and I'd be fine and Molly would be fine without her. This is the 4th cat that has passed in my arms. I certainly can't read people, but I can read cats. I always have been able to read them. I'm devastated and so upset. She was adopted with her brother during the last part of February 2007, but her brother passed 5 days after adopting them both. It took an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine that he had panleukopenia. A condition passed down from the mom cat. The shelter said out of 6 siblings, only Abby and one other cat survived. And then she became a living miracle being completely healthy up until the last few years. She had hyperthyroidism and most likely kidney failure. But they couldn't test her kidneys because the hyperthyroidism masked all that. Those two conditions are very similar. But I saved Baby II's ashes, her brother, and she is buried with him. It's weird because the cremation date for Baby II was on March 6, 2007. Almost 19 years to the date of her passing. Abby was my oldest living cat at 19 years and almost 5 months. Orange (Tommy) was my last oldest living cat. He passed at almost 18 1/2 years old. Most of my cats live to be 16 and older. These are the ones that have strictly been house cats. The ones I had as strays outside did not obviously. I've had good luck with cats being healthy. I called Abby "Abster" or "Princess" a lot. She really should have been called "Queen" being the oldest girl cat. Molly and her got along. They didn't at first. Abby got along with my other cats. Never her. I'm not sure why. They had a love/hate relationship. It was hilarious actually. I would never call them bonded. They really just tolerated each other. I think they bonded more towards the end and I'm so glad for that. That one picture of the two of them towards the end of this video totally sums up their relationship and it's funny that I captured that in a photograph. I'll be with Abby soon enough. I hope that she is running wild and free up there out of pain in the most beautiful pastures ever. Lots of sunlight and birds to watch. I love you, baby girl. You were so fiesty all of your life, but I loved that about you. 💜😇🐱✨️
Side note: When I adopted them, they had Abby's name as Georgina and her brother's name as Konrad. I didn't like either name so I changed them. She just looked like an Abby to me and her brother was an exact replica of a previous cat that I had that I had named Baby. Thus, Abby & Baby II. Yes, I probably should have given Baby II a unique name, but he just looked so much like Baby. I never even got a picture of him. He was gone before I could ever even get one. I just remember Abby sitting on top of her brother when I would hold them in my lap. She loved squashing him. It was funny to me. They clearly had a strong bond. I'm glad that they are back together again. 🥰✨️
