Akhun Mulla Shah Masjid was built by Dara Shikoh, eldest son and heir-apparent of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1649 for his spiritual mentor Mulla Shah.
Located in Srinagar, the mosque is separated from the main building in a courtyard that surrounds it. A stone lotus crowns the podium of the mosque.
But the historical site now remains shut behind a lock.
