He said to his superior, "No, sir, I will not abandon my tank. My gun is still working, and I will get these guys,” and switched off the transmitter. He was badly burned and cut all over, yet he didn’t stop fighting and made the supreme sacrifice for his country. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, for his courage and devotion to duty.
