On 10th July, I began my journey from Baisal, with the intention of trekking towards the breathtaking Dudi Patsar Lake. The starting point is right behind the famous Moon Restaurant, where you have to cross the river using a small local trolley (known as a “doli”). From there, it’s a two-day trek through the mountains to finally reach the lake. However, solo trekking is not allowed in this region, so I waited for nearly two hours, hoping to join a group that would head towards Dudi Patsar. Unfortunately, no one was going that day because just a day earlier a tragic accident had happened one of the girls from a group had fallen off a horse, her foot got stuck in the stirrup, and the horse dragged her for over a kilometer. She was badly injured and taken to the hospital, and after this incident, no group was ready to go up, especially with the weather turning cloudy and risky. After waiting for hours and realizing I couldn’t go alone, I decided to change my route and instead continue my solo ride towards Lulusar Lake, Gittidas Meadows, and Babusar Top.
Leaving Baisal, I first reached Lulusar Lake, which is the largest natural lake in the Kaghan Valley, situated at an altitude of around 3,410 meters (11,190 ft). Surrounded by snowcapped mountains, its turquoise blue water was so peaceful that I stayed there for a while enjoying the calm scenery. From there, I rode ahead to the hidden gem of Gittidas Meadows, a vast green valley carpeted with wildflowers, surrounded by mighty peaks. The meadows were incredibly serene and felt like nature’s untouched paradise—it was one of the most refreshing parts of my entire trip. After exploring Gittidas, I continued towards the legendary Babusar Top, which stands tall at 4,173 meters (13,691 ft) and connects Kaghan Valley with Gilgit-Baltistan. Usually, Babusar Top is covered with dense fog, but this time I was lucky to witness a perfectly clear view, with clouds floating gently above the mountains but no mist blocking the scenery. I ordered tea, boiled eggs, and chips at the top and enjoyed them while light rain added to the magical atmosphere. Sitting there, surrounded by mountains and cold winds, I felt grateful for the experience. My solo journey through Lulusar Lake, Gittidas Meadows, and Babusar Top turned out to be unforgettable, and I would highly recommend every traveler to explore Gittidas Meadows along the way it’s a place that truly feels like heaven on earth.
