Corbières is the largest appellation of the Region and runs from the Alaric Mountains all the way down to the Pyrenees through rugged and wild terrain. The landscape is undulating, composed of mountains, hillsides, valleys, depressions and gorges covered with vineyards, olive trees, garrigue and a multitude of fruit-trees and crops. Within this geological cacophony are many types of soils from clay, limestone, schist, galets roulets or red soils; it's difficult to say what the real Corbieres tastes like as there are so many versions.
If you used to drink Corbières 20 or 30 years ago, it is really worth taking another look today. No other appellation in the Languedoc has been through such a colossal transformation!
