Tekken 8 | Fujin, One Year Later (Jun Kazama Ranked Matches)

It has been thirteen months since I picked up Tekken 8, and since then I have accrued over 500 hours with the game. It was my hope to reach the rank of Garyu sometime in my first year of playing, and hopefully Fujin rank in Year 2. Both achievements were done much sooner than I had anticipated.

I am pleased to have reached a level of proficiency where I can say that I am no longer a newbie or a beginner to Tekken. But the road to intermediate play will be the longest by far. There are still so many concepts to wrap my head around, practice and ultimately be able to execute on. Things like movement (becoming more of a moving target), Small Tekken, creating opportunities, maximizing those opportunities, resource usage, match up knowledge, block punishment, combo variety, combo routing, and adaptation. The journey of learning and improving is still ongoing. But I remain captivated and engaged with what Tekken 8 offers.

For now, I would showcase here my progress one year later for posterity. I didn't win all my ranked matches on this particular evening, but for humility's sake I didn't want to neglect showing those games. Sometimes how we lose can be just as illuminating as how we win. Maybe even more so.

In any case, it is gratifying to see how far I have come by comparing these ranked matches to how I played a year ago.
