Japan dominance continues with Danon Decile’s victory in Dubai Sheema Classic

Having claimed the 2024 Tokyo Yushun (Japan Derby) in June, Danon Decile stepped onto the international stage with a success in the Group 1 Longines Dubai Sheema Classic.

In a race of tactical changes, it was jockey Keita Tosaki who always had the winner perfectly positioned as the pace up front changed frequently. Turning into the home straight, William Buick and Rebel’s Romance appeared to be travelling strongly but by the two-furlong pole the race was beginning to change. Tosaki and Danon Decile began gathering momentum and inside the final furlong, the duo had raced clear with an unassailable lead to hold off the late charge from French runner Calandagan to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths. Durezza finished third just ahead of Rebel’s Romance.
