OPEN SCIENCE, INDEPENDENT RESEARCH, AND INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL OPEN RESEARCH AND EDUCATION (IGDORE)

Описание: Gavin Taylor is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work has taken him from tropical rainforests to national laboratories. Gavin has progressively embraced aspects of Open Science during his research career, and now supports open and replicable research practices in his role on the global board of Institute for Globally Distributed Open Research and Education (IGDORE). Since leaving academia, Gavin has explored ways to continue doing research as an independent researcher, which led him to connect with the diverse world of indie and alt. academia.

In this talk, Gavin will provide an overview of six principles of Open Science (open-source is only one!), and an overview of the support virtual research institutes such as IGDORE can provide for independent researchers.
