Peacemaker Season 2 Explained: After the explosive season two finale, James Gunn’s Peacemaker confirms exactly which parts of the old DCEU still exist — and which have been wiped clean for the new DCU. Nearly all of Peacemaker Season 1 remains canon, except for one surprising omission: the Justice League cameo. The team is replaced by the Justice Gang, first seen in Superman, and their falling-out with Peacemaker leads directly to the creation of Checkmate, formed by the 11th Street Kids.

The finale also teases deep DCU connections — from Rick Flag Sr.’s “Planet Salvation” pitch (which references both Arkham Asylum and Belle Reve) to an unexpected appearance by Big Belly Burger, the classic DC chain also featured across Arrow, The Flash, and Vixen. Could this mean parts of the Arrowverse are now canon again?

And while Blue Beetle isn’t referenced, Gunn’s earlier statement that Jaime Reyes is DCU canon still stands — with an animated Blue Beetle series on the way. Here’s what Peacemaker Season 2 tells us about the new DCU continuity.
