Описание: Cammi Granato — dreamer, goal-scorer, trailblazer. The name etched into women’s hockey history.

[Early Life & Ambition]

Born March 25, 1971 in Downers Grove, Illinois, Cammi was one of six siblings in a hockey family. From age 5, she was playing on boys’ teams, determined to be a scorer — not a goalie that her brothers suggested.
In high school, when boys’ contact was allowed and the game got rough, she stepped away — but her passion never cooled. She played multiple sports: soccer, basketball, baseball — always pushing.

[College & Rising Star]

1989: Cammi got a scholarship to Providence College. She exploded onto the scene — freshman of the year, ECAC Player of the Year multiple times. In 93 college games, she scored 135 goals and added 110 assists.
After Providence, she went to Concordia University in Montreal, completing her master’s in Sports Administration — while still dominating on ice and helping Concordia win three consecutive provincial championships.

[International Legend]

Cammi became a founding member of Team USA for women’s hockey. In 1990 she helped them earn a silver in the first Women’s World Championship. But her defining moment came in 1998: women’s hockey’s debut at the Winter Olympics in Nagano. As captain, Cammi led USA to gold with a dramatic upset over Canada.
She also won silver at the 2002 Olympics. Over her international career, she played dozens of tournaments, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the U.S. with 343 points from 186 goals and 157 assists.

[Barriers & Recognition]

Cammi faced setbacks: physicality, being overlooked, gender biases. But her performance could not be ignored. She was named USA Women’s Player of the Year in 1996. In 2007 she won the Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to hockey. By 2008, she was inducted into both the IIHF Hall of Fame and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. And in 2010, she made history by becoming one of the first women inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

[Post-Playing Leadership]

Even after retirement, Granato stayed in the game. She became the first female scout for an NHL franchise (Seattle Kraken) in 2019 — breaking new ground off the ice. (Providence College Athletics)

Then in 2022, Cammi Granato was named Assistant General Manager for the Vancouver Canucks. Now she is helping reshape hockey operations, player development, scouting — using her experience as a player, leader, and pioneer.

[Legacy & Impact]

Cammi isn’t just a name in a Hall of Fame. She is a symbol: showing girls they can play at the highest levels, that Olympic gold is possible, that leadership isn’t limited by gender.
She’s helped women’s hockey gain recognition, inspired countless young players, and now she helps choose and develop the next generation.

Cammi Granato: champion on ice, pioneer off it. One of the first women ever into the Hockey Hall of Fame — and one of the strongest voices and leaders hockey has ever known.
