Kim Sun-hee picked up ballet at the age of 10 and showed raw talent in this elegant form of dance. After quickly acquiring the proper techniques and posture, she won numerous prizes until she graduated from university and received considerable accolades. Then, after studying abroad in the U.S., she began teaching at Ewha Womans University, where she majored in Dance herself.
Soon after, she fell into a slump, seeing herself as inadequate as she began to feel that she could never be as good as the great Russian dancers of her time no matter how hard she tried. After devoting 30 years of life to ballet, she decided to give up on the dance altogether after making one final trip to the Vaganova Academy of Russian ballet. There, she learned Dance Pedagogy and was completely captured by the systematic and scientific training method. And she became the first Korean to complete the teacher certification program at Vaganova.
After returning to Korea, she introduced the systematic training system to the Korean ballet community and sought out to discover young talents. Her hard work finally paid off, and her students began sweeping awards at a number of international competitions.
Meet Kim Sun-hee, a Professor of Dance at Korea National University of Arts, who helped raise the level of Korean ballet, and served as the judging panel at prestigious dance competition in recognition of her keen eye for talent!

10살 때 어머니의 권유로 발레를 처음 배우기 시작한 그녀는 엄청난 습득 능력을 보이며 곧 두각을 나타내기 시작한다.
그렇게 대학교를 졸업할 때까지 참가한 모든 콩쿠르에서 최고의 성적을 거두며 한국 발레의 대들보로 온갖 찬사를 누려온 발레리나 김선희 교수.
그녀는 대학 졸업 후 미국 유학을 다녀와 모교인 이대 무용과에서 학생들을 가르치며 교육자로서의 길을 걷게 된다. 하지만 곧 슬럼프에 빠지게 되는데...

자신이 학생들을 가르치며 느꼈던 한계점, 문제점 등 모든 게 한꺼번에 해결되는 느낌을 받은 그녀는 그렇게 한국인 최초로 바가노바 발레아카데미 교육자 과정을 이수하게 된다.
한국으로 돌아와 바가노바 교육법을 토대로 본격적인 발레 교육에 나서게 그녀.
그간 무질서하게 주어졌던 한국식 발레 교육을 체계화시키는 것은 물론, 인재를 조기에 찾아내 체계적이고 강력한 교육을 시작한다.
그렇게 최고의 교수와 체계적인 교육법, 엄선된 인재들이 모여 시너지들 내기 시작. 최근 바르나 발레 콩쿠르를 비롯해 각종 국제 콩쿠르에서 한국이 주요 상을 석권하면서 발레 신흥 강국으로 급부상하기 시작했다.
한국 발레 수준을 한 차원 끌어올림은 물론, 세계 유수의 발레 콩쿠르 심사위원으로도 활약하고 있는 김선희 교수.
