Mandera Governor issues warning against theft of relief food during aid distribution

Описание: Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif of Mandera has expressed his concern over the theft and illegal sale of food designated for school children.
In a stern message, the governor made it clear that anyone caught engaging in such activities would face severe consequences.

Governor Khalif emphasized the importance of collaboration between county government staff and security agencies to ensure that the food reaches those who need it the most – the vulnerable residents and students.
He called upon the security agencies to assist in conducting thorough searches of all shops and apprehending anyone found in possession of meals meant for schools.

During the launch of the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) school meals feeding program in Takaba, Mandera West, the governor highlighted the program's significance in addressing hunger and malnutrition among 27,000 students across 328 ECDE centers.

He firmly believes that by alleviating hunger, an enabling environment for education is created, leading to improved enrolment rates and better educational outcomes.


These arrests serve as a clear indication that the authorities are taking decisive action against those who exploit the aid meant for vulnerable children.

Governor Khalif's warning sends a strong message to potential offenders that the Mandera County government will not tolerate the theft and sale of relief food.
The governor added” By working together with security agencies, they are determined to ensure that the aid reaches its intended recipients, thereby assisting the most vulnerable members of the community during these challenging times”.

In recent developments, the police have already apprehended two women, aged between 40 and 44, who are suspected of involvement in the illegal sale of goods intended for the school feeding program.
