This is the frustrating experience that's causing me to no longer buy modern NGC coins. It's not just that they shirk their guarantee for modern coin spotting. It's that their customer service is frustrating, terrible and the end result was that the only time I got stuck with a bad coin out of 13 of these I bought was when I paid extra for an NGC coin. So why would I pay extra for a guarantee that doesn't work?

You might say I should have known better. That I should have just sent it back to the ebay seller. You'd be right. But I'm not the one building a whole company around a quality guarantee. The responsible thing to do would be to stop grading them until enough time had passed to determine if they would develop problems. They could also work with the mints to figure out how to stop this. The mints may not care if random people get upset but if the major grading companies got on them, maybe tossed a little lobby money their way... well that's how things get done these days. They could just make the basic effort of having a grader look at a photo and give it a yes or no. Those are the things they would do if they valued the integrity of their product. But that would make them less money.

Edit: Slight correction, I only spoke with 2 different CS reps, not "many."
