Nevada governor's plan to deploy National Guard for immigration enforcement ignites debate

Описание: Nevada may soon send members of the National Guard to assist immigration and customs enforcement in the deportation process for migrants in custody; the plan sparking debate among state leaders.

“Now we are seeing a greater reliance on the National Guard, so my question is, what happens after this moment? We have already taken a step that is unprecedented in our state," said State Sen. Fabian Doñate.

Nevada is one of 20 states considering the action. Among the states are Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, and Louisiana, which were informed in a private memo that the National Guard would be deployed to assist with immigration enforcement

A brief breakdown of the roles for National Guard members is to protect, defend, and serve, respond in times of crisis and emergencies, as well as serve under their state’s governor and as Service members of the Nevada National Guard are among the latest to be called upon by the Department of Homeland Security to assist with the enforcement, the actio has sparked mixed reviews.
