Why We Matter is a short documentary film that explores the value of the unfixed - people with chronic illness, chronic conditions, rare diseases and disability - in our society. Too often these stories are shared and valued only within the disability communities. Yet, we believe these vital lives have unique contributions to all of society as they creatively contend with the pervasive experiences of pain, uncertainty and isolation. For the first time since the pandemic struck, we will be traveling to the homes of our Unfixed Community subjects around the US and the UK. We’ll share time with them in their environments, elevating their stories cinematically, and asking them why their voices should be heard and why this world is a better place because their stories, struggles and triumphs are a part of it.
