Family of 26-year-old mother speaks out one week after fatal Akron apartment shooting

Описание: One week after 26-year-old Malaysha Thomas was found shot to death inside her Akron apartment, her family is speaking out about their loss — and the two young children Malaysha leaves behind.

"We're all sad about it," said Malik Thomas, Malaysha's younger brother. "She left behind two kids."

According to police, officers responded to the 400 block of South Maple Street around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 28. When they arrived, they found Malaysha Thomas inside her apartment with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Malik Thomas says his sister had recently moved back to Akron and was beginning a new chapter in her life.

"She had only been there like six or seven months," he told 3News.

Family members say Malaysha had been focused on building a home for herself and her children.

“My sister was the loudest, most energetic person in the room," Malik said. "She really had so much love to give. She really just radiated love and light toward other people."
