⭐Summary⭐
There is a fair amount of proposed changes here, but most are extremely minor. My main goal that I'm trying so desperately to achieve is to make realistic suggestions that can actually be useful, by understanding the precedent and philosophies set by the Devs. Years of experience and theorycraft at every new patch have hopefully given me insight into the types of changes that can and cannot be made.
Even still, some of my changes may fall just outside of the realm of feasibility for a 9.1.5 patch or similar, but I still believe them healthy and complete enough to include them in this video. I will notate all changes that may require something not achievable in a minor patch with an asterisk in my summary below.
Every proposal is explained in much more detail with visual aid in the video, but here is a summary of the changes that I believe could have value in boosting the enjoyment of the DK community, while addressing minor problems with DK in the current PVP meta.
🔵Frost Changes Summary🔵
Frost Strike - buffed. a spender should be a more impactful button press.
Shattering Strikes* - legion pve talent, replaces icy talons.
Hungering Cold* - replaces death's reach. 7 second AoE voidzone incap.
Frozen Pulse - buffed in damage, only activates during pillar.
Mirror Ball* - legion pve talent, replaces permafrost.
Wraith Walk - buffed to 45 second cd from 1 minute.
Death Pact - buffed to 15% healing absorb instead of 30% absorb.
Glacial Advance - buffed to a cone rather than a line.
Shroud of Winter - buffed to 50% from 30%. unused pvp talent.
Deathchill - Application of deathchill does not consume chains of ice.
Delirium - Applies to all movement enhancing abilities, including speed boosts.
Bitter Chill - Buffed to 10%/12%. not actually as impactful as expected.
Spellwarden - Nerfed to not apply at all times. (a bug fix, yes)
🟢Unholy Changes Summary🟢
Summon Gargoyle - Buffed in damage to be competitive in PVE.
Pestilence - No wound cap per DND tick.
Ebon Fever - Buffed to compete in PVE.
Life and Death - ICD removed, % lowered if needed.
Necrotic Wounds - 4 Stacks Maximum, 7.5% per stack.
Necromancer's Bargain - 45 second cd reduct removed, army ghouls still summoned, crypt fever damage increased, duration increased.
Rune of Apocalypse - this runeforge should be competitive. no reason to add new runeforges if they're entirely unusable. (not in video)
⭐Explanation⭐
I have played a lot of DK PVP in this game. DK has been good, it's been bad, and it's been very, VERY good. Regardless, I tend to keep my mouth shut about buffs & nerfs because I pride this channel on being thoroughly understood information conveyed to fellow DKs. If I were to propose changes, there's no way to experiment or research how that would cascade throughout the meta and cause many unanticipated problems as a result of the changes that I envision for DKs.
HOWEVER, we have another MOP-esque expansion on our hands. The power has crept so drastically with all the extremely impactful combinations of borrowed power systems (covenants, legendaries, conduits, soulbinds...) that we're in a place where fear of minor changes causing massive results is the least of our problems. Almost every class has a setup so tremendously absurd that every time they press a button they're getting uploaded to WoW Daily Highlights on Youtube.
Therefore, I'm trying my hand with a few proposals that I believe take a different approach than most that get quickly rejected by those in charge of making design decisions. Between hundreds of games, streams watched, tournies analyzed, and many discussions on various platforms, I believe I have a list of proposed changes that stay grounded in reality, have history of them working in the past, and address MANY of the most common complaints of DKs worldwide.
I try to show understanding of possible concerns or problems a change could introduce, whether it be across the meta of PVP, or the way that it would affect PVE. Because of this, some changes may be more trivial to act on than others. In my summary & organization below, I categorize these proposals accordingly.
