DriveLab Driver’s Score – Full Rubric
Scoring System:
Each Main Category has three subcategories scored on a 1–10 scale.
Subcategory scores are averaged for the category score.
Category scores are averaged for the overall Driver’s Score (out of 10).
Descriptions are provided to keep scoring consistent.
1. Style: 15% of score
The visual appeal of the car
Design – Overall aesthetic appeal and proportion of the car’s body, lines, and shape.
Stance – Fitment/How well wheels, tires, stance, and body lines integrate visually.
Edge – The “wow factor” and ability to stand out. Aggressiveness of styling.
2. Sound: 25% of score
The emotional and sensory impact of the car’s sounds.
Tone – General sound of the engine/exhaust note across the rev range.
Character – Uniqueness and personality of the car’s sound, including induction, valve train, shifts, overrun, etc.
Volume – Loudness under load and at idle/cruise, judged on appropriateness for the experience.
3. Performance: 25% of score
How the car delivers its driving capability and excitement.
Power – How hard the car accelerates and how the power is delivered (smoothness, predictability, control).
Handling – How well balanced the chassis, suspension, and tires are working together in corners.
Thrill – The emotional excitement from the car’s performance.
4. Connection: 35% of score
How connected and informed the driver feels. Arguably the most important factor.
Steering – Usable feedback, directness, and communication through the steering wheel.
Sensations – Sum of feelings from the car through pedals, brakes, steering, chassis, and transmission.
Flow – How well the car keeps you engaged and immersed in the driving experience, with all sensations, sounds, and movements working in harmony.
