The letter Ain "ع" is the 18th letter of the Arabic alphabet. It is like the linguistic DNA of the language; while it represents only about 5% of usage, it is a defining characteristic.
For those outside the Semitic language family, the muscle used to articulate "ع" is often 'lazy' or untrained.
If you master the sound of "ع", congratulations! Your vocal cords are now officially licensed as an Arabic speaker.
Always remember that the language you are now learning starts with "ع". To remember the shape and the sound of "ع", just think of the word "Arabic" in Arabic: "عربي" (Arabi), which starts with the letter itself!
