Survival Tips for winter: blankets don’t save you if the floor is stealing your heat.
You think you’re safe because you’re indoors. Heater’s off, windows sealed, you’ve got “enough blankets.” Then you wake up shaky, fog-brained, fingers numb, and your core temp quietly sliding downhill. Reality check: the cold doesn’t care about walls. It cares about physics.
Here’s the kill switch: the floor. Concrete, tile, hardwood—doesn’t matter. It’s a heat sink. Your body dumps warmth into it through conduction all night long. Blankets mostly fight convection (air moving around you). But if you’re pressed against a cold slab, you’re basically hugging a battery that’s draining you.
VIX rule: insulate under you first, then above. If you only do one thing tonight, do this: get yourself off the floor. Even 2–5 cm of trapped air and foam changes the game. Cardboard, sleeping pad, folded towels, spare clothes, a yoga mat, couch cushions—layer it like armor plates. Dry is king. Damp turns your “cozy nest” into a refrigeration system.
Protocol, not vibes:
• Build a ground barrier: dry + thick + layered.
• Tighten your sleep system: hat on, neck covered, socks dry.
• Kill drafts at floor level: rolled towel snakes at doors, rugs over tile.
• Don’t sweat before bed. Sweat is liquid defeat.
• If you’re shivering hard, can’t think straight, or feel “weird calm” in the cold: that’s not tough—that’s hypothermia starting.

You don’t need hero energy. You need a floor plan that doesn’t execute you.
