Ingredients:
For the sausages:
4 German fried sausages (e.g. Bratwurst or Bockwurst)
Oil for frying
For the curry sauce:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 small onion (finely chopped)
200 ml tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or wine vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1–2 tsp curry powder (to taste)
½ tsp paprika (sweet or smoked)
A pinch of cayenne pepper or chili pepper (optional)
Salt, black pepper – to taste
For the fries:
4 large potatoes
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Salt – to taste
Preparation:
1. Fries:
Cut the potatoes into strips.
Soak it in cold water for 20–30 minutes (to wash away the starch).
Dry the potatoes and fry in a deep fryer or in a pan in a large amount of oil until golden brown.
Remove and salt immediately.
2. Curry sauce:
In a small saucepan, fry the onion in oil until soft.
Add the tomatoes, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, spices.
Cook over low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and puree with a blender until smooth (optional).
Try it - the sauce should be sweet-sour-spicy.
3. Sausages:
Grill, pan-fry, or bake the sausages until golden brown.
Cut them into slices or serve whole.
Serving:
Place the sausages on a plate.
Drench generously with curry sauce.
Sprinkle some more curry powder on top.
Serve fries on the side.
Optional: fries sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, or garlic sauce).
