The Spot-billed Pelican has a large body, a grayish-white body, a long, large beak, and a pouch-shaped lower beak. When mature, the beak and pouch have no black spots. It lives in lakes, ponds, saltwater, seashores, large rivers, swamps, and lowland areas.
Spot-billed Pelicans are mainly solitary feeders, using their large throat pouch to scoop up fish and other aquatic prey while swimming.
When breeding, the beak and pouch under the beak are covered with black spots. It breeds from August to May and lays 3 to 4 eggs. It is a near-threatened species.
