He’s standing in line at the ice cream truck when he gets that idea — maybe he can sneak up a little, cut in front, no one will notice. The second he tries it, someone shuts him down immediately:
👉 “No cutting. Everybody knows that.”

Cold. Public. Embarrassing.
Doug freezes, snaps back into “good citizen” mode, and quietly shuffles back into place like a scolded kid 😅

So he plays it cool and focuses on the important stuff:
the order.

He asks for an Eskimo Pie and an Orange Push Pop, and instead of just ordering like a normal person, he starts reviewing the ice cream like it’s some kind of gourmet experience. He says the Push Pop is the kind of thing you have to work on slowly, really “gnaw” your way through it — and that most people don’t have the patience for that… but he does 😌🧊

In his mind, this isn’t just a snack. This is a commitment.

While waiting for his order, Doug’s brain suddenly changes channels from “hungry” to “hustler.” He casually asks the ice cream guy if he’s planning to sell the truck… 👀

Then comes the real question:

“Would you say this is a good investment?”

The guy doesn’t hesitate. He flexes a little and says the truck has been good enough to buy him a condo in Florida 🏖️☀️

And that’s it. That’s all Doug needs.
You can almost see the gears turning in his head.

The truck’s engine rumbles to life beside him, that nostalgic ice cream jingle starts playing, and Doug stares at it like he’s not just seeing a vehicle anymore — he’s seeing opportunity.

In his imagination, he’s no longer just the guy in line.
He’s the guy in the driver’s seat:

cruising the neighborhood 🚚

kids running after the truck

cash rolling in every summer

one ice cream bar at a time 💸

It’s classic Doug:
One minute he’s getting scolded for cutting in line, the next minute he’s mentally building an “ice cream empire” off a random conversation. A simple snack stop turns into a full-blown “What if this is my big break?” moment.
