Episode 27 features Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Shri Dhananjay Hegde who is presenting Raga Nand, also called as Raga Anandi or Raga Anandi Kalyan or Raga Nand Kalyan.


Shri Dhananjay Hegde, a born prodigy, had his initial training in music under the tutelage of his mother, Smt. Geeta Hegde and his father Shri G S Hegde, a Tabla player. He had his further training from the eminent vocalist Pt. Vinayak Torvi giving his presentation a blend of Kirana and Gwalior Gharana gayaki. He is a recipient of several awards including the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman 2014.

Shri Dhananjay Hegde is being accompanied by Shri Sagar Bharathraj on Tabla, Shri Surya Upadhyaya on Harmonium, and Smt. Pratima Hegde & Ms. Shreya on Tanpura.

SaMaPa is known for its presentations and has specially planned each session of this Digital Baithak to give a glimpse of the variegated cultural dimension of our country to the masses. Even though the present circumstances have led to limitations of live public concerts but as said “Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention”, this series is a collective contribution of various artists of India.
