"You slog through the swamp for hours. The mud sucks at your feet and the canopy of branches crushes the light into a dismal twilight. Your clothes stick to you like a second skin. The air is thick with humidity and your hair hangs like heavy seaweed. Mosquitoes swarm around your head, biting through whatever clothes and armour you have. It's not long before you start to itch all over. Gnats and biting flies buzz around your ears and try to crawl into your nostrils and your mouth. It's nearly unbearable, but you trudge ever onward, driven by a sense of purpose."
