If your ankle keeps rolling easily or you’ve had repeated ankle sprains, poor balance and delayed joint awareness are often contributing factors. Over time, this can lead to chronic ankle instability, making the ankle more likely to give way during sport or even everyday activities.
In this video, a licensed physiotherapist demonstrates the Star Balance Exercise, a key ankle mobility and stability exercise commonly used in physiotherapy for chronic ankle sprains. This exercise challenges balance, control, and proprioception (joint awareness), helping the ankle react more quickly and stay stable in unpredictable positions.
The Star Balance Exercise is often included in rehabilitation programs for:
• Ankles that roll easily
• Recurrent or chronic ankle sprains
• Sports injury recovery
• Return-to-sport training
When performed correctly, this exercise helps improve ankle control, reduce the risk of future sprains, and build confidence with movement.
