Educating, enriching and empowering those who support the defenders of our great nation, the 8th Marine Corps District biannually hosts a District Spouses Orientation Course, or DSOC, to introduce spouses of new recruiters to Marine Corps recruiting duty.
The Marine spouses from throughout the district learn about the demanding life of Marines on recruiting duty, and are given resources to promote a successful recruiting tour and build camaraderie among other spouses. The DSOC introduces family members to the business of recruiting and helps them adapt to unique challenges encountered while on recruiting duty.
Briefs include family advocacy, Recruiting 101, stress management, relationship building and motivational guest speakers.
The 8th Marine Corps District encompasses approximately 900,000 square miles stretching across 10 states.
