Union Pacific Railroad 8108 East rolls through Colfred, Arizona on the historic Sunset Route with a solid double-stack intermodal consist, featuring an interesting DPU — UP 1995, the Chicago & North Western heritage unit.
While the head end handled the eastbound stack train, the real surprise was in the middle: the C&NW heritage locomotive working as distributed power. Heritage units don’t always show up on DPUs, making this a particularly notable catch on the Sunset Route. The friendly crew gave us a couple of blasts on the horn, thank you!
