Описание: The Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi mourns the passing of Rev. Fr. Joseph Mokaya, a veteran priest who faithfully served the Church for decades.
The sad news was officially announced by Archbishop Philip Arnold Subira Anyolo, who confirmed that Fr. Joseph Mokaya died at Mater Hospital, Nairobi.
Fr. Joseph Mokaya was ordained to the priesthood on 28th June 1975 at Our Lady of Visitation Parish, Makadara. Throughout his long priestly ministry, he served with dedication and zeal in various parishes and Church offices within the Archdiocese of Nairobi, including Mangu Parish (Gatundu North), Riruta Parish, St. Joseph Parish Jericho, Ruku Parish (Lower Kabete), Ndundu Parish (Gatundu South), St. Mary Magdalene Parish Kariokor, Nyamangara Parish (Gatundu North), and Blessed Sacrament Parish Buruburu.
Fr. Mokaya also rendered invaluable service as a formator at St. Mathias Mulumba Senior Seminary, Tindinyo, where he helped shape future priests. He further served at the AMECEA Secretariat Nairobi and was involved during the period of the 43rd International Eucharistic Congress held in Nairobi.
A scholar of Sacred Theology, Fr. Joseph Mokaya pursued further studies at the University of Nairobi, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA), and in Rome, where he obtained Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Sacred Theology.
At the time of his death, he was serving at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish, Buruburu, Nairobi.
